Pinellas Park Events
Pinellas Park is known throughout the Tampa Bay area for a series of community events held annually in a city-owned bandshell located behind City hall. The most popular of these events is “Country in the Park”, a festival held every year generally on the third Saturday of March, but always after the Florida State Fair and Florida Strawberry Festival. The festival’s popularity stems from its wide array of events, such as arts and crafts shows, NASCAR displays, popular amusement park rides, and multi-artist day-long concerts, and the fact that parking, entry to the festival, and attendance of the concert are all free of charge. As of 2011, the Country in the Park festival has been organized for 21 years straight. Another popular celebration among the locals is Pride in the Park. This celebration occurs during the week leading up to Country in the Park. Usually the night before Country in the Park, the firefighters’ chili cookoff takes place at the bandshell.
Pinellas Park is also the proud home to a memorial to the Korean War, located in Freedom Lake Park.
Pinellas Park Museums & Attractions
Pinellas Park is a place of natural beauty and rich culture. As such, it is home to some well known museums that are certainly worth a visit on your next trip. Here’s what some tourists had to say about their recent visits to the area’s attractions:
The Tampa Bay Auto Museum of Pinellas Park
We found the Tampa Bay Auto Museum to be absolutely fascinating! It’s one thing to see a group of great cars, but those at the museum are not only rare (you certainly won’t see their diversity at any other museum in the world) but they represent the engineer’s respective inventions, to try and develop something often quite different from other automobiles of the time. It also seems to be the finest collection of front-wheel drive cars in the world. And their 1770 Fardier de Cugnot was what put the entire visit over the top…the first moving vehicle designed and built in the world! It also represents great milestone inventions, including the first high-pressure steam engine, first steering (rack and pinion of course), first brake, and having a forward and reverse. It was also front-wheel drive! What a thought-provoking, beautiful museum to visit!
Mission Quest Laser Tag
WE love Mission quest lasertag! Grab the kids and get a some exercise at the same time. Run around the woods in a family friendly atmosphere. Adam and the guys do a great job. What I liked is that the traditional lasertag needs to be done inside but this application feels more like paintball with out the pain!
Mainlands Golf Club of Pinellas Park
Nicely maintained, fairways and greens were well-watered. Rough was short. Plenty of water hazards on the course. Rangers keep track of the pace of play. Located in the middle of a residential community, but is a public course. I was a single and the starter made an effort ot get me started right way, ahead of several foursomes. I played through some threesomes (ladies) and eventually met up with a threesome of men (retirees), who invited me to join them, since there wasn’t an open hole ahead. A long walk is required between the first green and the second tee, but after that the course layout is logical. I had a great time on Jan 2.
